Gallant, committed and selfless voice of midwifery in Kenya has passed on; midwifery fraternity in mourning.

It is with profound sorrow that we, The Midwives Association of Kenya (MAK), inform you of the passing on of our illustrious Founder Chairlady, Rose Syowia Louisa Muteti.

Madam Muteti steered the formation of MAK in 2016 and has been Chairlady since then, to the time of her sudden resting on Thursday 9th September, 2021.

The burial will be on Tuesday 21st September 2021 in Makindu. Meanwhile, burial arrangements are underway. There will be a fundraising event online on Friday 17th September 2021.

The Midwives Association of Kenya (MAK) is the national professional association representing Midwifery profession in Kenya. The Association was registered on 15th July, 2016 by the Registrar of Societies in Kenya (Cap.108) Laws of Kenya.

On behalf of MAK fraternity, I wish to express our heartfelt condolences to Madam Muteti’s family, friends, relatives and colleagues and assure them that we are together at this trying moment.

May the Almighty God rest Louisa’s soul in peace.

Fare thee well, Madam Rose Syowia Louisa Muteti, the firm voice of midwifery, mentor and champion for the welfare of mother and baby.
